diebenkorn
A mid-century Artist Study
Prerequisite for this class is Intro to Abstract Acrylics.
Diebenkorn, a painter who deconstructed imagery like Mondrian, used the color of Matisse and applied his paint in the style of De Kooning. Large, luxurious, and mysterious paintings that create atmosphere are his trademarks. We will explore Diebenkorn's many sides and focus on his abstract landscapes and his abstract figures. In this class, students will explore the many styles of Diebenkorn's work and will walk away with 1-2 unique paintings and several sketches that can be later used for developing new work. About the instructor
Shirin Nikoukari
I started painting when I was young. I moved to the United States in my 20's and mix my Persian culture with my abstract inspirations. The pomegranate is a sacred symbol for me and often shows in my work as well as Persian Calligraphy. As I have evolved, my work has become more abstract. |
"It's hard to say what I like most about Art on 30th because it's such a varied place with ALL kinds of great classes for everyone of any skill level."
