Explore collage and turn on your creativity and express yourself using accessible materials and images.
We will experiment with various collage techniques, emphasizing the element of play, while exploring the use of different cutting tools, adhesives and paper. Learn about sourcing and selecting imagery, composition and design, and how to glue it all together. Each class session will introduce you to different materials and approaches, giving you the opportunity to experiment and explore in a friendly and supportive learning environment. Supply List (come prepared with a palette of any kind and quality paper towels, like Blue Shop Towels or Viva)

About the guest instructor
Kirsten Francis
Kirsten Francis is a mixed media artist and instructor living in Encinitas, CA. She studied fine arts and figure drawing in high school, and received a BFA in Printmaking from the Pacific Northwest College of Art, Portland OR. A printmaker for many years, she discovered the excitement of collage and mixed media through her children’s preschool cut and paste art projects. Working intuitively with found images and her own drawings, Kirsten creates complex, dimensional artworks that combine everyday life with the fantastical and weird. Website |
