Art 101: GETTING STARTED
If you're brand new to art making and don’t know where to start, then this is the workshop for you!
A fun and informative one day workshop to get you started painting and help you decide the creative direction you'd like to go and which class is the next best step for you.
Topics covered: using acrylic paints, using and cleaning brushes, color mixing basics, how to keep paint from drying out, getting to know various tools and materials.
Students will also complete a simple and fun painting in class!
Proficient artists who have taken this class may want to investigate our Intro to Abstract Acrylics classes as their next step.
Want to explore more techniques at home? Check out the "Abstract Painting" book on Amazon, written by Art on 30th owner and mentor, Kate Ashton, that features artwork from our AO3 community of artists!
About the instructor
Cappie is inspired by life. Her art may begin with just “putting paint on the canvas” or an inspiration from a trip or an Art Show or a walk around her neighborhood. “Animals and figures are 2 of my favorite subjects. I love the abstract techniques and will always start a new piece with an interesting background. I love mixed media and will include vintage sheet music or tissue or napkins I have saved from an event or bought because of the graphics.”
Cappie teaches Art 101 and Art Journaling workshops here at Art on 30th and is in Studio 8 upstairs. “Happy Cappie” hopes her art brings you joy and makes you smile.
