About the instructor

Picture
Jamie Burwell

I'm an abstract expressionist artist based in sunny San Diego, California, where I reside with my husband and two children. My work is a vibrant tapestry of colors, shapes, and forms, reflecting my background as a graphic artist and multi-media designer. Rather than starting with a fixed vision, I embrace a fluid creative process, allowing each piece to evolve organically through a dialogue between myself and the materials. Whether it begins with a color palette or shifts to form, line, or space, each creation is an exploration of the endless possibilities inherent in mixing design elements. It's a journey of discovery, where the final result is often a delightful surprise.

"STRUCTURE AND FUN IS NOT USUALLY COMBINED IN AN INSTRUCTIONAL CLASS, BUT KRISTEN DOES AN AMAZING JOB AT BOTH! THANK YOU!"
