abstract flowers
with sissy alsabrook

Picture
Prerequisite for this class is Intro to Abstract.

A famous artist was asked why she only painted flowers and she replied because that is where the color is. Our goal is to capture the essence of a flower while pushing composition and color.

In this follow-up class on abstracted flowers, we will expand on the skills and tricks from Class 1. If you did not take Class 1—don't worry. We will bring you up and expand your new skills at bringing flowers to life.

The endless variety of color and shape is what has deeply informed my own paintings.

In five weeks, we will explore:
  • forming a dynamic composition
  • building up layers
  • creating a rich painting with depth
  • color mixing
  • mark making

You will leave this class with confidence in to make your own beautiful paintings. With your new skills, you will be able to find your voice.

  • $10 dollar donation is requested for fresh flowers on week 3; payable to the instructor
